The UK target to achieve Net Zero for 2050 will require an enormous amount of research and development for Electric Machines, Batteries, and Power Electronics. The required improvements in efficiency and power density targets will require novel topologies and architectures which are currently not possible with traditional manufacturing technologies. Additive Manufacturing has the capability to offer a step change improvement in these requirements with its inherent design flexibility. This presentation will highlight areas in electrification where AM can have an impact, the required capabilities to enable this impact and MTC's journey in developing these capabilities.
