About
At CALLUM, our mission is to design luxury low-volume and one-off products that meet the exact requirements of our discerning customers. Additive manufacturing is the perfect technology to enable us to do that. The ability to produce infinite geometries gives us a much greater design freedom, enabling us to print parts that exactly meet our customers’ individual requirements. Secondly, it is far more cost-effective and faster to produce parts – whether tooling, prototypes, end-use or simply the ability to rapidly validate an idea. In January 2021, CALLUM brought additive manufacturing resource in-house, acquiring its first MakerBot METHOD X 3D printer to produce a range of parts up to 19cm cubed. For larger components, such as final production parts for its Aston Martin CALLUM Vanquish 25, including brake ducts, switch holders and clips, CALLUM is using Stratasys technologies at an approved design bureau. In this presentation, senior engineers from CALLUM will explain how it migrated rapidly from skepticism, to now embracing AM. They will explain, through examples, how AM has become a crucial element of both its creative and manufacturing streams. “You can’t determine the quality of a design on a screen or photograph. You want to be able to see and touch something in 3D and additive manufacturing enables designers to do that quickly and cost-effectively.”
